IMPORTANT
After enrolling your biometrics and submitting your visa application personally at the Belgian embassy in Rome you can:
1. Leave your passport at the Embassy while your visa application is being processed.
After the analysis of your application (can take up to a few business days), you will receive an email confirming the status of your visa request.
If your visa request is approved, the visa will be put in your passport within 10 business days (please note that this is an indicative term and that delay may occur, especially during summer months).
Once your visa will be issued, you will be notified by email in order to organize the pickup of your passport.
Passport can be collected:
- in person
- by an authorized person (with a signed authorization note (DOCX, 298.14 KB))
- by express courier (ex. UPS, SDA, DHL,…). Be aware that this sending will be at your own cost (payment) and risk.

2. Keep your passport with you during the process.
This allows you to keep your passport with you until a decision regarding your visa application was taken. If your visa request is approved: you will receive an email with the instructions regarding the sending of your passport to the Embassy for the visa delivery. Please be aware that the sending of your passport is at your own responsibility. Once the passport is received at the Embassy, the standard delivery time of the visa is of around 10 business days.
